People Make Me Laugh
Women are the most hating creatures ALIVE.
Soooo Zoe Saldana is playing Nina Simone… Yall MAD?! Yall not even mad for a reason; yall feel some type of way because she’s LIGHT SKINNED! THE fuck?!
Newsflash: It aint about who LOOKS like her; its about who’s a BOMB actress that conveys the emotions she went through in a BRILLIANT light. Jamie Foxx aint look like Ray Charles either AND he didn’t look like Tookie Williams; but yall weren’t complaining about that.
Matter fact; Denzel was TOO DARK to play Malcom but that was okay too huh?
Be GLAD they picked someone with talent and not some half-brained, washed up actress who hasn’t been in a movie in a decade.
Chill tf out.

If you keep blasting other people
… Sooner or later someone’s gonna blast you.
Keep that in mind.
Just cause you got new friends that make you feel like you hard… Dont mean your old friends don’t remember your deepest darkest secrets.
Harry Potter wins in the end. And yeah, that’s a warning.

Soooooo Gay’s are gonna get married but we all gone be broke; bombed to bits; dumb as hell and sick?!

Light Skin Privilege
In “Who’s Afraid of Post-Blackness” they go on this random tangent about how Obama got the vote because he was light skinned. Then they proceed to go in on the “Light Skinned Privilege”
-________-. Maybe, in slavery times; being a light bright was a huge “privalige” but in 2012???
Now, I’m light skinned myself so maybe I’m just oblivious. But outside of random people yelling “Red bones are sexier”; I haven’t seen too much of a privalege…
So to my followers outside of getting hit on by guys at the mall; what special privileges do light skinned people really have TODAY???

Acting White
So I’m almost at the end of “Who’s Afraid of Post-Blackness” and in the 3rd to last chapter (I think). They raise a VERY interesting discussion about “Acting White”.
“Why is blackness necessarily synonymous with underclass? Why’s blackness burnished by life in the projects but somehow damaged by life in the suburbs? Why’s blackness validated by a trip to prison and challenged by a stint at Yale?”
It makes me wonder; why IS that exactly?
When did proper English and a lack of baggy clothes or a jail record become synonymous with “Not being black”? At what point did we define “black” with poor and “white” with success?
When we, as people, become more concerned with being a race than being ourselves; we have a problem.
So act white, act White, act Hispanic, act Asian. Act however you feel comfortable. Where you grew up doesn’t determine your race; your ancestors do. You were born black; there’s nothing to prove to ANYONE.
Because even if you DO stay “true to your race”; when you sell yourSELF out, you’ve lost the battle.

So I honestly think Nas is one of the GREATEST artists to ever live. He’s just one of those rappers who puts lyrical content over EVERYTHING. There’s something to learn from his rhymes.
“They say we N I - Double G E R
We are - much more,
But still we choose to ignore,
The obvious.
We are the slave and the master,
Whaccha looking for?
You the question and the answer!”
